❥ Who we are

 

Shuttlecats is an LGBTQI+ social badminton club for adults located in Melbourne Australia. We run weekly sessions on Tuesdays and Saturdays. Our club exists to provide a safe space for women, LGBTQI+, and gender diverse people living in Naarm (Melbourne) to play one of the world’s most fun sports: Badminton! Come join us for some games at Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre! All skill and ability levels are welcome!

Every Tuesday night from 7:30pm - 9:30pm

Every Second Saturday from 2:00pm - 4:00pm

All events are subject to public holidays/MSAC closures so keep an eye on our socials for updates!

Melbourne Sports and Aquatic Centre (MSAC) 30 Aughtie Drive, Albert Park, VIC 3206, Melbourne

Paid parking available onsite at MSAC - free parking available in the surrounding suburb.

Member Fee: $10 | Guest Fee: $15

❥ What is it like playing badminton at Shuttlecats?

 

All skill and ability levels are welcome! If you're a returning player or completely new to the game we've got you covered! Our fantastic Coach Abbie is on site to get you up to speed. Whether you're starting off with learning the rules of the game, or looking to improve on your technique, our coach can provide tips, tricks, and exercises during sessions.

We have Organisers on the day who you can find by the whiteboard in the right hand corner of Stadium 4, so come say hi, and we’ll get you started with some games! We also have a couple of spare rackets available at each session. For any further questions, please drop us a line on our on any of our social channels!

Tonight we have 4 courts. Meet at Court 3 in Stadium 4! Attending a Session Pre-purchase your ticket before the session, payments are not accepted in-person Shuttlecats is a club for adults, you need to be over 18 to attend Racquets are available to borrow during the session, make sure to return it before you leave. Session fees are non-refundable unless the session is cancelled If you've bought a ticket and can't attend a session, please let us know in advance to free space for someone else! Members can request a session credit for an upcoming session however you must let us know by 12pm on Tuesday sessions and 5pm on Friday for Saturday sessions. Fill out this form to reschedule your ticket and so we can free up a spot for someone else at busy sessions Sign-up for a 2025 Shuttlecats membership to get a discounted session fee Guests are always welcome, and must fill out our once-off Guest Waiver Tips for the Session When you arrive: Let a Shuttlecats organiser know you've arrived before starting play so that your name can be included on our games board During the session: Meet new people and brush up on your badminton skills! Keep an eye on the whiteboard for your name to be pulled for an upcoming game Check the coaching sessions to sign up for drills, or seek advice how to improve in play If you need a racquet, ask a committee member to borrow one. Please return it at the end of the session When you leave: Return any borrowed racquets Exit MSAC promptly after the session DO NOT PLAY and stay home if you are: A positive COVID-19 case Feeling unwell or displaying COVID-19 symptoms Shuttlecats Merchandise Items for sale in our store can be collected in person. Check out our online store page for shirts or racquet grips. We still have a number of sizes available of our shuttlecats tee.
